FAQs
We have included some of our frequently questions we get about our Application Development below. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Can you convert my current site into a PWA?
Possibly, although it really depends on how your site has been built. A PWA needs to work seamlessly on a phone and it needs to be optimised for speed and performance.
PWA’s are very quickly increasing in popularity with major brands such as Starbucks, Uber and Trivago, to name just three, embracing them. If you have an idea for an application then we would love to talk to you.
I have an idea for a web application but don’t know where to start
Getting an idea from a concept to a well scoped brief can sometimes be tricky. Luckily we have lots of experience with working on getting concepts to production so give us a shout. No matter where your idea currently sits, we should be able to help you move forward.
Do you build native phone applications?
Unfortunately we don’t. We feel that for most cases a PWA is a far more attractive, cost effective and better solution.
What are the benefits of a PWA over a native app?
There are lots of benefits including cost of development and maintenance, flexibility, marketing reach and SEO. Remember a PWA works in a browser, so all normal SEO and marketing strategies are valid.
What are the limitations of PWAs over native phone apps?
It is true that there are some limitations around Apple/Safari’s adoption of PWAs. Most of these limitations can be worked around and the benefits out-weigh the drawbacks. The main issues are that they have a smaller caching capability, push notifications are not yet supported and there isn’t a way to automatically install a shortcut on the home page. However, PWAs do run perfectly on iphones. We feel that it will only be a matter of time until Apple fix these issues and better support PWAs in their browser and IOS.
What software/frameworks do you use to build web apps in?
This often comes down to the individual requirements of the application, but normally we would build a web app/ PWA using Laravel as a backend framework. We have built very successful web applications in MODX as well.
Will I be able to edit the content in my web app like a normal website?
Again, this depends on the specification of the application. If there is going to be a need to update content within the application, this will be included in the functionality.
